Scientologists Talk about Being Scientologists

I think it's very clever to have a video of Scientologists just talking about being Scientologists on the new Scientology video channel, because it's obvious these kids (most of them are quite young) are sincere and really get a lot from their being Scientologists.

Beautiful Videos

I just found out about the videos the Church put online on the Scientology web site, and I'm impressed. It's pretty obvious from the quality that they took the care to really do a good job on them. And they sure did. The emotional impact alone is exceptional. The camera work, the sound, the scripts.... all first rate!

Dreaming of a wheat Christmas

I'm Dreaming of a wheat Christmas, is the name of the new exhibition at the Butler County History Center and Kansas Oil Museum. It showcases the incredible media of wheat weaving as art form by decorating a Christmas tree entirely with wheat ornaments of various sizes and designs.

The Wichita Wheat Weavers Guild asked to bring this Christmas exhibit to El Dorado after participating in the museum's Kafir Corn Fall Festival this past October. This exhibition has been on display at the Wichita Art Museum for seven years and at various other locations in the Wichita metro area.

These talented artists are master weavers and besides producing educational workshops and outreach programs on the history and techniques of wheat weaving, they love to share their dedication to Kansas' agriculture heritage.

As one woman said about why she weaves, “It helps me stay connected to my farming roots.” Another simply stated, “The sharing brings the greatest joy.”

An exhibit honoring our agriculture past as well as women's handiwork is worth visiting.

Museum's Executive Director, Deborah Amend said, “We are excited to have another agriculture exhibit on display at the museum, especially one that is so unique. Our current Kingdom of Kafir exhibit showcases the crop of the past, while this wheat weaving exhibit honors the crop of today.”

This free exhibit will be on display until January 31, 2007 in the Entrance Gallery of the museum. In addition to the exhibition, there will be various wheat weaving items available for purchase in the museum's gift shop. A wheat weaving is believed to bring prosperity, luck, happiness and health. So take home a bit of luck and prosperity for your home by visiting the exhibition and taking away a unique art piece for your home.

This weekend is the Celebrity Centre Gala. Celebrity Centre is such an aesthetic environment and it really conveys the feeling of a new civilization.

With Scientology there is such a clarification of perception. That coupled with increased ability really helps the artist in accomplishing his or her work.

I just saw the new public service announcements produced by Youth for Human Rights International and the Church of Scientology International. They are stunning. I was so moved by each of them. I don't often think about human rights, but I'll tell you these really brought home to me that I personally have to do more to guarantee the human rights of others.

This beautiful photograph is one of a series that is part of a fundraiser for the Boston Scientology Volunteer Ministry

Rev. Robert Castagna is not only responsible for the beautiful images, he is also the director of the Ministry.

The Church of Scientology of Boston services the community in many ways. This is part of a major expansion for the Scientology religion that includes the establishment of new churches such which have recently held grand openings, such as the Church of Scientology of New York, the Church of Scientology of Buffalo, the Church of Scientology of San Francisco, the Church of Scientology of Spain and the Church of Scientology of Johannesburg, South Africa (Mr. David Miscavige -- Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center attended and was a featured speaker at each of these grand openings).

These churches represent a new era for the Scientology religion.

HOLLYWOOD — The Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International hosted its 35th Anniversary Gala in Hollywood, Saturday, August 7th.

Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, the highest ecclesiastical office in the worldwide Scientology religion, addressed the thousands in attendance, taking up the questions “What is Scientology?” and “Why do you have a Celebrity Centre?” Mr. Miscavige explained, “Scientology does have answers. Real answers. Answers that work. Bold statements? Yes. But what millions of people from over 150 nations will tell you themselves.”

The guest list included many of the church’s well known members, including Tom Cruise, Lisa Marie Presley, John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Sofia Milos, Jenna Elfman, Leah Remini, Catherine Bell, Priscilla Presley, Erika Christensen, Jason Lee, Anne Archer, Jennifer Aspen, Michelle Stafford, Lynsey Bartilson, Juliette Lewis, Marisol Nichols, and Ethan Suplee.

Speakers at this Gala included LA County Sheriff Lee Baca who acknowledged the Church of Scientology for being active at the forefront of conflict resolution.

A formal presentation was made by the United States Congress of a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in recognition of Celebrity Centre’s 35th anniversary of humanitarian and voluntary contributions. This presentation was made on behalf of Congressman Brad Sherman (D. California) and Congress by Ileana Ross-Lehtinen.

The more than 1200 guests, including parishioners of the church, local and federal government officials and community leaders, were entertained at the outdoor celebration on the grounds of the Celebrity Centre by Beck, soul legend Isaac Hayes, jazz great Chick Corea and Academy Award nominated film composer Mark Isham.

Church officials say that the church’s popularity in the arts mirrors its overall growth, with nearly 9 million members in over 150 countries. They say its rapid expansion is word-of-mouth driven, due to the religion’s practical principles that are used to improve conditions in life.

The Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre in Hollywood was founded in 1969. There are twelve Celebrity Centres located in cultural centers around the world including New York, Paris, Nashville, Las Vegas, Vienna and London.

In keeping with Scientology founder L. The Myth of the Chemical Imbalance in Mental Health

The President of the American Psychiatric Association had to admit (to People Magazine) that there is no objective evidence to the theory that a chemical imbalance in the brain causes depression.

Yet this is the entire premise they have been using to sell their "treatment" of the human condition with dangerous drugs that, according to the FDA's admission, these drugs INCREASE THE RISK OF SUICIDE.

I am very proud of Tom Cruise for not backing down in this debate.

Citizens Commission on Human Rights has come out with a very interesting statement on all this:

"Medical doctors today struck out against the dangerous position actress Brook Shields has taken in promoting the antidepressant Paxil for treatment of post partum depression (PPD).

"'Ms. Shields does not address the tremendous body of medical opinion against antidepressants being prescribed for PPD, nor does it appear she was medically advised of this.

" 'The FDA warns that these drugs can cause hostility, anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, and mania, which is a public health warning ignored in recent media coverage,' said Anthony P. Urbanek, M.D., a surgeon from Nashville."

I like to see people doing well, and I don't like to see psychiatrists pretending to help people but in fact harming them. I much prefer to see people improving their lives with solutions that don't require drugs and surgery. Luckily, many people are fighting for our future, and deserve our support. Not the least among them are Nancy Cartwright (aka, Bart Simpson), and Tom Cruise.

On example of the beauty of Santa Barbara.

This coming week is the 3rd anual celebration of International Day of Peace, inaugurated after the tragedy of September 11th. I wish we had more to celebrate three years later. Two wars later, I don't see we are any closer to a world at peace. To the contrary, far more people have been killed in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars than in the twin towers. But not only that - the way the US has waged the war and has neglected to establish communication and trust in the countries that support anti-US terrorist activities has really worsened the situation.

My church, the church of Scientology, supports real human rights activities. Peace will only occur when we demand and enforce such documents as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights be honored.
